Why Jonathan didn't speak at Mandela's service – Presidency

The  Presidency last night rose in defence of President Goodluck Jonathan for not speaking at the memorial service in honour of the former South African leader, Nelson Mandela in South Africa. The President had come under serious condemnation by critics in the social media, who wondered why he went to Johannesburg in the first place without rendering an oration in honour of Madiba as other world leaders did.But Presidential Spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abating, dismissed the attacks on the President as a classic case of much ado about nothing, as Jonathan was not billed to speak at the ceremony in the first place.According to Abati, only six out of the 100 world leaders at the event, were slated to speak and Jonathan was not one of those chosen to render any speech.“The late Madiba’s burial is not a United Nations Debating session. It is what it is - a burial: a solemn, national ceremony,” Abati said.” Leaders from all over the world attended the Memorial Service to pay their last respects and to identify with South Africans in their hour of grief. It was certainly not meant to be an occasion for political grandstanding or the waving of flags.“Out of about 100 world leaders who attended the event today, only six spoke at the ceremony. It was made clear at the occasion that the Chairman of the AU Commission, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will speak on behalf of African leaders. And she did.“I do not agree that Nigeria was insulted in any way. It was good that President Jonathan attended the Memorial service and that Nigeria is insolidarity with the South Africans.“If every leader who attended the service had been asked to say a word, the event would not have ended. There were many other leaders at the event, whose countries have strong historical and political ties with South Africa, but who did not speak.“I have not heard their compatriots crying like babies. This is obviously a further indication of a rising, minority tendency to read the negative into every official item,”Abati said.

Top 27 Quotes from Nelson Mandela

1.Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. 2.When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw. 3.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. 4.I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one’s head pointed toward the sun, one’s feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death. 5.A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special. 6.It always seems impossible until it’s done. 7.For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. 8.Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies. 9.There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered. 10.I have walked that long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom come responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not ended. 11.Lead from the back — and let others believe they are in front. 12.I am not a saint, unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying. 13.The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. 14.There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. 15.Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again. 16.As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison. 17.If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart. 18.As I have said, the first thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself… Great peacemakers are all people of integrity, of honesty, but humility. 19.As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. 20.Where you stand depends on where you sit. 21.Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom. 22.One of the things I learned when I was negotiating was that until I changed myself, I could not change others. 23.It is said that no one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones. 24.A leader. . .is like a shepherd. He stays behind the flock, letting the most nimble go out ahead, whereupon the others follow, not realizing that all along they are being directed from behind. 25.Courage is not the absence of fear — its inspiring others to move beyond it. 26.Appearances matter — and remember to smile. 27.We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Nelson Mandela, the global statesman who delivered South Africa from the dark days of apartheid, died on Thursday, 5thDecember 2013 at aged 95. HOW TO WITHDRAW YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT FROM ATM IN NIGERIA
Once you begin to have money in your paypal account, you will like to withdraw your money right here in Nigeria from an ATM that bares visa or master card logo, which can be found in banks like Gtbank, Zenith, etc But remember that you open the paypal with another country’s I.P so you cannot withdraw the money to a bank account. Now what you need to do is to transfer the money into your paypal account into someone’s or a company’s account who then pay the equivalent in naira to you.
There is a site that helps you convert your dollars to naira so that you can withdraw it from your bank account

SETTING AN AUTOMATIC VACATION RESPONSE

        SETTING AN AUTOMATIC VACATION RESPONSE

Going on vacation? No access to the Internet? No problem! Use Gmail's vacation responder to let people know you won't be able to get back to them right away.
You can set up a vacation response in your Gmail settings that will automatically reply to anyone who emails you. While the vacation responder is enabled, Gmail will send a response to anyone who contacts you.*
If that person contacts you again after four days and your vacation responder is still enabled, Gmail will send another vacation response to remind the person that you're away from your email.
Here's how to set up a vacation response:
  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right, then select Settings.
  2. From the General tab, select Vacation responder on in the Vacation responder: section.
  3. Enter the subject and body of your message in the Subject: and Message: fields.
    • If you've enabled a personalized signature in your settings, Gmail will automatically append it to the bottom of your vacation response.
  4. Check the box next to Only send a response to people in my Contacts if you don't want everyone who emails you to know that you're away from your mail. If you use Google Apps, you'll also see an option to only send a response to people your domain. If you check both of these boxes, only people who are in your contacts and your domain1 will receive the automatic response.
  5. Click Save Changes.
While the vacation responder is enabled, you'll see a banner across the top of any Gmail page, displaying the subject of your vacation response. To stop Gmail from automatically sending the response, click end now within the banner. Or, if you'd like to edit the response, click vacation settings.
Your vacation response will start over each time you edit it -- if someone receives your initial vacation response, and then emails you again after you've edited the subject or body of the message, he or she will receive the edited response, too.
* Messages classified as spam and messages addressed to a mailing list you subscribe to will not receive a vacation response.
