While shopping for watches, it is good to go for premium quality regardless of the price tag. Go for established and recognised brands. When looking at colours, stick to the basics; black and brown, they suit virtually all. If you must go for bright coloured watches, be sure the event you wear it to is informal.

Stainless steel or chain wrist watch as it is commonly referred to, is more durable than leather stripes. Although there are rubber strapped wrist watches, a stainless-steel wristwatch is a classic. It can be worn with a business suit or casual clothes. Its versatility makes it a good addition to a man’s closet. Most times, it is waterproof. You could always go for gold; this could be an investment in case you need quick cash.

The face

The face of a wristwatch should be relative to the wrist that is wearing it. On bigger men, a standard watch face can look like a ladies’ watch. Watch makers are continually coming out with watches that have larger than standard faces. It has become quite a trend. The bigger the watch face the better; whether you are a big guy or not, it looks great.

Water resistance

This is a great feature in wristwatch design. If you get caught in the rain or your watch accidentally gets wet, you don’t have to worry. However, water resistance varies in degree. For instance, some watches will resist moisture from accidental splashing, rain, sweat, etc. and others will resist moisture up to certain depths such as 50 or 100 meters.

The colour of the face and strap

When building a classic wardrobe, stick to the basic men’s colours that will blend and look appropriate in a business or formal setting. Save the trendy colours for a second or third watch if you must.
